What is Curated Faith?

“For we are his works of art, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

Back in 2014 I started a blog called SmallChelle.com where I could write about the bible and share my heart with the world. After a couple years I had frustrated meltdown and took some time off to regroup. Almost two years off!

So after that meltdown and spending much time in prayer to seek God’s will for my blog and writing, I believe he gave me an idea. A simple phrase based on Ephesians 2:10 that would be a rebrand of my blog and writing. “Curated Faith.” At every turn the doors were open for this. The url was available so I bought it. It turned out to be free through my webhost. I snatched up the gmail, FB and IG. I also set up a Pinterest board & Etsy shop.

Then I waited. And prayed. And dragged my feet. And prayed. And now it’s time…

I love the idea of rebranding because I never did want my name to be the thing. My Goal is to glorify God, not myself, in writing about how his love impacts our lives and the lives of those in scripture.

What does “Curated” mean?

In a curated exhibit the goal is to display the creative skill and beauty created by the artist, and what greater Artist than the Creator of all things?

Curate
noun – a clergy member – any ecclesiastic entrusted with the cure of souls
verb – to select, organize and look after the items in a collection

Imagine my surprise when I found the spiritual meaning behind “curate.” In that sense we have a unique opportunity to “curate” each other through Christian community, the Word of God, and prayer, leading each other to deeper lives of faith, hope, love, and joy! This also makes Christ our primary Curator who brings us to peace with God.

In the Curated Faith Manifesto I expand on these four primary values of “Curated Faith”

  1. God has curated our lives. His sovereignty is over all that we are and do.
  2. We are living works of art and all that we do is an extension God’s creative power
  3. We can choose to see daily faith life and sanctification as an act of art
  4. We manifest the love of God by loving one another, locally and globally

These are the things God has designed for us to walk in. Not only is he the Creator but ultimately the Curator of our lives. Faith is not like a library where silence is held in high esteem or the Louvre where priceless one of a kind art is seen and not touched but only admired from afar. Our faith lives should be more like a children’s museum, full of light and laughter and music, things to touch and see and taste, inspiring all of our senses to worship.

I’m looking forward to this new season and journey with the Lord and you, my friends, as we curate one another towards intentional faith, relentless hope, abundant love, and unspeakable joy!

Joyfully,
Chelle

Thank you Karen! Thank you for all the love and prayers over the years. Thank you for loving me and not shunning me when I was a crazy teenager. You’ll never know how much that really meant to me back then. Your faith and love for the Lord was a huge example to me. God bless you and your beautiful family!
